The origins of Linger Lodge date back to 1945, starting as a 100 acre fishing and canoeing campground. The original structure of the lodge was a two-story log cabin overlooking the beautiful Braden River. The photo below was taken in 1951 showing the Parvin’s, the original owners, behind the counter and their son is seated on the far left. Unfortunately, the log cabin burned down in the late 1950’s.
Frank and Elaine Gamsky, originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, purchased Linger Lodge in 1968. Frank Gamsky, a veterinarian by trade, began to taxidermy the road kill & wild game from the campground and adorned the walls of Linger Lodge with these oftentimes unusual creatures. Some of the most unusual include: the Jackalope, the Walking Catfish and the Alaskan Fur Fish. Frank considers animals one of our most important natural resources and continues to promote the protection of all animals.
Franz Hartl, originally from Austria, purchased Linger Lodge in 2017 after falling in love with this unique and beautiful piece of Old Florida. He is investing in improvements to both the Restaurant and RV Campground without changing the charm and atmosphere which makes this place special.
