CampVenice is a retreat-style year-round camping facility. A place to get away, hide, and relax Sit back and let the world go slowly and serenely by. Located in an old-growth oak hammock along the Tropical Myakka River, with fabulous canoeing, outstanding fresh & salt water fishing, and quiet natural surroundings. A bit of unspoiled Florida still exists.

Separate Waterfront areas occupy RV Sites, Tent Sites and Rental Cabins. Miles of tropical waterfront and serene shaded areas greet our guests. On-Site Canoe Rentals, Heated Pool, Recreational Provisions, and Clean Home Style Facilities encourage guests to relax in comfort.

The downtown Island of Venice is just minutes away, resplendent in Northern Italian Architecture and Small Town Charm. Possessing a variety of fine waterfront dining spots, village shopping, and miles of free sandy beaches. Any service or recreational desire is within easy reach. A carefree atmosphere of small-town living with palm-lined streets and friendly faces.


RV Sites

Over 100 full hookup sites are available to guests with RV's. Campsites are generously spaced throughout an old-growth oak hammock. Spanish moss draped oak trees and hundreds of palms cover the majority of this area. Relax to serene natural surroundings along the Scenic Myakka River. WaterFront RV PhotoAccomodations are available to fit any type or size RV, from pop-ups to 46' coaches comfortably. Sites accommodate a couple or family of four persons or less. Some RV sites back directly up to the waterfront on the Myakka River. Rate schedules are available for Overnight, Weekly, Monthly, and Seasonal stays. All RV sites come equipped with minimum services of 50/30/20amp Electricity, Water, and Waste Connection. WiFi service is available park-wide. The RV section of the facility is especially popular from late Fall to late Spring, and all Holiday periods. Reservations well in advance are Strongly Suggested during these times.


Tent Sites

Located on a waterfront section of the facility, the Tenting Area is completely canopied by old growth oak trees and elegantly draped with Spanish Moss and Air Plants. The area is directly adjacent to the nature trails entrance and separated from the other camping areas by an inlet of the Myakka River.Tent Primitive and Electrical hookup sites with picnic tables are available. Sites accommodate a couple or family of four persons or less. All Sites in the Tenting Section are VERY shaded. Six of the Tent Section sites back up directly to the Water's Edge, providing an excellent location for guests who wish to rent canoes or bring their own; Waterfront sites are primitive (no electric hookups).The remainder of the Tent Section sites all provide individual electrical and water outlets. Grills and Fireplaces are permitted. Ground Fires and Pets are Prohibited. This section of the facility is especially popular from early Fall to late Spring, and all Holiday periods. Reservations are Strongly Suggested during these periods.

Cabins

Campin' Cabins are located directly on the water leading into the tenting section of the park, along a strand of old-growth oak trees and bushy palms. Fishing, boating and canoeing is outside your door. Relax by the banks of the Myakka River on your cabin porch. Cabin PhotoCampin' Cabins are simple sleeping facilities, built from interlocking logs with hardwood floors. Each unit features lights, electricity, air-conditioning/heat, one full-size and one double bunk bed with mattresses, and a small covered porch with picnic table.


They do not have efficiency facilities such as kitchen and restrooms. Please bring your own linens, towels, etc. Twenty-four hour restroom, shower, and laundry facilities are close by. Park recreational activities are just a minute away. Cabins accommodate a couple or family of four persons or less, one vehicle, no pets please. Guaranteed check-in available after 3pm, check-out by 12noon. Campin' Cabin Rentals are popular year-round, and most especially during Holiday periods. Reservations are Strongly Suggested year-round and should be made well in advance of any Holiday Period.

Canoe Rental

Your eyes quickly dart to the place from which the sound originated . . . Trying to focus through the dark waters to the cause of the ever-enlarging rings streaking across the waters surface . . . . Was it a big splash (maybe a manatee)? Or a little splash (could be a tarpon)? Or was it just a turtle trying to quickly escape from the alligator now moving lazily along the waters edge? No Worries! We've been renting canoes here at CampVenice for over 25 years now and we've never lost a guest!Canoe Launch Dock - CampVenice Retreat - Venice Florida The Myakka River is designated as a 'Florida Outstanding Waterway' and has earned protection as a 'Wild and Scenic' river and a 'Florida Aquatic Preserve'. It flows through three counties of largely undeveloped native range, providing an important nursery habitat for estuarine and marine species. One of three 'Black Water Rivers' in the state, the Myakka is well known for its slow calm movement from its lushly tropical headwaters to its widespread sawgrass flats mouth.


The quiet, slow moving water and outstanding beauty combine to form an exceptional area for canoeing. CampVenice offers campers a fleet of the finest OldTownCanoes® available for enjoying the Myakka River, the 17' Discovery series. Rentals come fully equipped with appropriate sized preservers and paddles. Canoes accommodate a maximum of three(3) persons. Departure and return is from the same location within the Retreat. Canoe rentals are avialable only to current registered campers at CampVenice Retreat. Weight, Safety, and Use Restrictions apply

Attractions

The downtown 'Mainstreet' area of Venice offers an elegant village atmosphere where personalized service and friendly banter are the norm. The historic preservation of the area has developed and renewed the Northern Italian architecture of old. Pleasant breezes from the beaches a few blocks away sweep through the palm-lined streets. The beach itself is just a short walk away through shaded park style paths. Convenient benches, gazebos and restaurants offering dining al fresco' beckon you to relax and enjoy the 'local flavor'. The variety of shops and restaurants you discover in and around the downtown area will surprise and delight. You will literally find the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker, artists, antiques, handmade confections, second-hand notions, one-of collections, hand-dipped ice cream, and the list goes on and on and on! Way too many really neat places for us to try to list. Practically any item, product, or service desired is available in the downtown area of Venice.
