Park Activities

Picnicking

Picnicking is a pleasure with our forty picnic tables and three large shelters. A paved path and specially designed tables make the facilities accessible to persons with mobility concerns. The pavilions are very popular places for birthday parties, baby showers, reunions, and church or company functions. Modern playground equipment adds to the family enjoyment.

Fishing
The Peace River and Payne Creek together provide excellent fishing. Most freshwater species can be caught and saltwater snook frequently travel upstream from Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico.

Canoeing

Use the park as the start or end of a trip on the Peace River or just paddle down the creek and into the river.

Natural Trails

Approximately, six miles of trails meander along Payne Creek and through the various natural communities. These trails provide excellent routes for wildlife observation, photography, walking, jogging, or just wandering and enjoying the sounds of nature.

Nature Photography

Early morning or late afternoon is the best time of day for nature photography just about any day of the year. During the winter months there is frequently fog laying low adding to the opportunities for unique images.
